Money in Your Pocket

Capital credits represent your share in the cooperative as a member. As a not-for-profit cooperative, we operate at cost-any revenue beyond expenses is returned to you, our members. That means money in your pocket instead of profits for shareholders.

In 2025, Ozarks distributed $3 million in capital credits to eligible members for 2024. This year’s distribution brings the total amount refunded to our members to more than $59 million.

How Do Capital Credits Work?

When we have surplus revenue and the cooperative’s financial position permits, our board of directors elects to distribute, or retire, capital credits to our membership.

Capital Credits are allocated based on how much electricity you use throughout the year. Amounts under $20 will be applied as a bill credit. Amounts over $20 will be issued as a check.
